imageCLASS MF455dw - unreachable jam

MGHortonVT
Apprentice

Issue Summary
Pages began printing solid black after installing a new cartridge. A sheet jammed and is now visible only
from the rear. The paper is lodged in the rear fuser exit/throat - a narrow slit beneath the curved fuser
housing and behind fixed exit guides. The visible edge will not move. The front paper path is fixed - no flap
or slot exists to reach the fuser entrance.
Troubleshooting Already Performed
- Opened front cover and removed toner.
- Lifted both duplex transport guides (green tabs).
- Opened rear cover and attempted gentle horizontal extraction.
- Confirmed front path is sealed and cannot accept cardstock.
Assessment
This appears to be a fuser throat jam in a sealed path. No user release exists and forcing removal risks damage.
Requested Remedy (Under 3 Year Limited Warranty)
- Open fuser exit guide and clear debris.
- Clean toner and inspect fuser film, exit guides, thermistor.
- Replace damaged components if needed.

I've been trying to reach support, and even though I called during their open hours, I got a message that they were closed. Any assistance?

Greetings,

What number are you calling? The telephone number for Canon support is 1-800-652-2666.

Will be curious to hear what they say.

That is the number I called. I called Friday at 6, and today at 6:30 PM. They are, supposedly, open until either 7 PM or 8 PM (depending on where you look) and still getting "We are closed. We will open on the next business day." Not helpful.

Greetings,

Support is open 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern standard Time Monday through Friday.  This is on the Canon website.  Do not trust AI for this type of information.  🙂

When I look on the Canon website, I found this. Apparently, they have different times on different pages. I'll try before 6 today and see if I can reach anyone.
