imageCLASS LBP633Cdw / LBP632Cdw - 1200dpi?

I've spent a whole day setting up a LBP633Cdw and running test prints but haven't been able to get this thing to print at 1200 x 1200 dpi.

I've been able to set the Windows Printer Preferences at the 1200dpi spec but can still see that Windows' Printer Properties show that the Maximum resolution is 600dpi.

I've been using Adobe Acrobat and PostScript 3 to print and have changed Advanced Print Settings in there as well. The Advanced Print Settings dropdown only has up to 600dpi listed but I am able to type 1200dpi into that box. The screening options available are 106lpi 600dpi or Custom and I've been selecting Custom but I get the same results setting 1200dpi and Custom as I do with the default 600dpi settings.

Resolution in the printer's own settings is set to 1200dpi as well.

Has anybody been able to get their printers to print at 1200dpi?

I own an mf743Cdw which may not configure in the same manner as the LBP633. If I log into the 743 via a browser and specifying the printers IP address (I chose to use a static IP address) there are data fields where the resolution can be set for printing. The 743 is set to 1200.

Does the 633 have something like that? 🤔

Thanks for the tip but I already set up the Remote UI just for that purpose without seeing any change.

Something doesn't look right.  I'm using the UFR II driver.  As you can see I am at 1200 x 1200

On the Quality Tab I have to go into Advanced to set 1200 dpi

For Print From Web, I can select 1200 dpi output

In my UI, the default is set to 600 dpi, but 1200 dpi is an option (What Dexman335 pointed out)

Since my printer UI is set for 600, but I have the 1200 output option, it looks like your print driver is the limiting factor.  Log in to your UI as Dexman335 referenced and change your dpi from 600 > 1200.  Restart the printer and your system and see if the driver (printer properties now shows Max Res 1200).  I don't believe this will change anything, but its worth a try.

If that doesn't work, I would uninstall the printer, uninstall the post script driver, restart your system (important) and reinstall the printer using the UFRII driver.  If the UFRII driver doesn't help, I'd call Canon.  We already know the dpi selection in the UI does not dictate the max dpi available in the driver (with UFRII anyway).  You can use my screen shots as reference demonstrating how my driver shows 1200 dpi max and yours shows 600.  Please let us know if you solve it. 😀

I really wanted to stick with using Post Script 3 for my driver since I'm going to mainly be printing PDFs from Adobe Acrobat. Most of what I've researched about printer languages before purchasing the printer led me to buying this specific model with Post Script compatibility.

Sadly after digging around the back of the User's Guide I've discovered that the printer's max resolution is 600 x 600 dpi anyways. It looks like the 1200dpi reference in all of the marketing hype is only for the data processing capability. Since the max print dpi is 600dpi anyways I'll just be leaving the settings as they are now.

I'm seeing this information also.  That's a slippery slope.  The resolution is listed in the specs as 1200x1200 without any disclaimers about it using overlapping dots.  Kudos for finding the additional info in the manual, but this too is ambiguous.   

**EDIT.  I just looked at the specs in the MF644, MF656 and MF743 manuals.  The Mail Unit Resolution is listed as 600x600 in each of them.  I haven't looked at the driver or UI on my MF644.  As above there is nothing that references how 1200 dpi is achieved.  However, I definitely have it listed as max resolution in my driver on the MF656.
