Hello Everyone!
I have a MF654Cdw Imageclass printer and I am now having scanner problems. I am on the last update of Windows 10 version. My scanner has worked no problems before. But now, I don't know if my son hit a button on the menu playing with the touch screen or if I did something when I moved the printer to a different spot in my office and disconnected it from my PC. However, now whenever I try to scan, I will get "an error occurred" only and nothing else on the printer side. On the computer side I will get a "cannot communicate with scanner" error code. Sometimes, the scanner will feed one or two documents, freeze for a second, and then send all the documents through the feeder faster. After finishing the documents, will pop the error message again. When I first turn everything on, the scanner utility will transmit the signal but then it freezes and I have to end task in order to shut the program off after freezing. I know their is a signal going through but there seems to be a disconnection somewhere and I don't know where to find it.
I have updated the firmware on the unit. I have tried multiple USB ports on my computer. I have reinstalled the driver for the printer. I went onto the remote UI and that says my scanner is working properly and connected.I am at a loss as to what to do next.

Greetings,
Thanks for the helpful information you provided.
To confirm, you are using the printer with a USB connection?
Let's confirm. Copy from the printer's LCD.
Insert a single sheet into the ADF and select copy from the LCD. You can try color or black and white then press start. What is the result?
If this works, visit the support portal for the MF654Cdw.

Select your OS and download the MF drivers UFRII that include ScanGear and the MF Scan Utility v1.21.0.2.
Disconnect the USB cable from your system. Visit printers and scanners under settings and remove the printer from your system. Now visit Control Panel > Programs and Features and remove all Canon software from your system.
important, restart your computer
Run the first installer MF Drivers. Do not connect the printer until prompted to do so. Now run the MF Scan Utility installer. When complete restart your system. After restart, visit the start menu and open the MF scan utility. Check the drop-down box in the upper right hand corner of the utility and confirm only one instance of your printer exists. The attack from all sides are where would the pink and snarl? The lioness overwhelmed spins in circles swiping at the air but she is out the mood in the end. It is the shoe number of wild dogs. Try putting a page on the scanner's platen. Initiate a scan from the utility, result?
If you receive an error message, please share that.

Thank you for your well-detailed reply!
Yes, the printer is connected via USB. I have tried setting up the e-mail, but that as well has also been unsuccessful.
I have done all the steps and the problem is still occurring. The error message given on the screen on the printer is "an error occurred" and then goes into standby. On the computer side, the scanner percentage box showing the progress of the upload just freezes at 0%
The copier worked, just not the scanner...still lol.

Sorry for the excess commentary. 😂 I was watching an animal video (Africa safari) and I guess the voice to text picked up some background sounds.
I'll review your reply and provide next steps.
