Cannon MF650c Series: Instructions needed to set up scan to email function

We just bought this printer and I need help with setting up the scan to email function (specifically gmail and hotmail). What's a good resource for that? One that has a step by step would be wonderful with all the pieces for these types of emails.

I'm using Gmail for Scan to Email on my 644 and 656.  

Is this something you still need assistance with?

I am not the OP but I am having an issue with my MF650C and using smtp.gmail.com to scan to email. Here are my settings and I have generated an app password in Gmail but I keep getting the error message.

What port are you using?  Use 587.

Oh wait. I spoke too soon. The test SMTP connection was successful but I just tried to do a scan to email and get the 839 error about SMTP auth.

839 is an authentication error.  Email address or password.  If you entered your 16 digit app password with dashes, remove them.

Oh my goodness. I didn't even read the message from Google when I created the app pass and realized it say 16 character password but included spaces. Why in the world would they include spaces?
