MF8080CW won't detect my mac laptop (OS X Yosemite) via bonjour

rhonjo

Hey

For some reason my mac laptop(OS X Yosemite) won't detect the MF8080Cw printer anymore. The weird the thing is, it works sometimes but I would have to delete the printer from system prefrence > printers & scanners and add it again. But now it won't detect it anymore. I also tried reinstalling the driver and my co-workers can all use it fine so it might be something with my computer but im not sure. Did i miss a step?

Hi Rhonjo.

If you still need assistance with this issue, I will be able to assist you.

I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.  To uninstall the driver, please follow the instructions below:

1. Open [System Preferences] -> click [Print & Fax].

2. Select the printer you are using -> click [-] icon.

Note:

Delete all print queues set from the driver you are deleting.

3. Delete the folders and files for the driver you are deleting.

  • [System Volume]/Library/Printers/Canon/UFR2
  • [System Volume]/Library/LaunchAgents/jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
  • Mac OS X 10.5 and later:
    [System Volume]/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/CNTD***Z*2*.ppd.gz
Where *** indicates a character string that represents the printer model, and *2* indicates a character string that represents the corresponding language.

Important

If you delete a "PPD.gz" file other than that of the printer model you want to delete, the printer driver may not work correctly.

Note:

If the [Authenticate] dialog box is displayed, enter the administrators name and password -> click [OK].

4. Restart your computer, and then empty the Trash Bin.

Next, download the MF Printer Driver, under the "Recommended Downloads" section, from the link below:

After installing the driver, please add the printer back to the queue by following the instructions below:

1. Open [System Preferences], and click [Printer & Fax] or [Print & Scan].

2. Click the [+] icon.

3. Click [Default], and then select a printer name for which [Bonjour] is displayed in the [Kind] or [Connection] column.

4. Select [Select Printer Software] from [Print Using or Using].

5. Select a driver that is capable for this machine from the driver list, and then click [OK].

6. Click [Add].

7. Check that this machine is added to the [Printer & Fax] or [Print & Scan] dialog box.

8. Close the dialog box.

I hope this information is helpful to you.  Should you need further assistance with this issue, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).
