imageCLASS MF726Cdw - how to factory reset

hickpop
Contributor

This is the last thing I am trying before putting this thing in the trash. It only works when attached to my laptop via  usb, Wireless is not functional. My router sees the printer and the wireless light is blue, but my laptop, ipad, and other devices do not. Resetting the LAN settings did not work. Updating the software driver did not help..

How do I factory reset? Google says to go to set up but I cannot find any setup.. Is it under a another menu? Does it have a separate button? I can't find it. Is there another way to do a factory reset?

Greetings,

When logging into the Remote UI, you must select system manager mode in order to see all available menu options.  General user mode only displays a subset of options.

Error messages (If present) would display on the printer's LCD.

Greetings,

The printer does not need to be connected to anything to be (reset) initialized.

https://oip.manual.canon/USRMA-0336-zz-SS-enUS/contents/SS729_maintenance_333initializingmenu.html

However, you do need to know the PIN you created when you set the printer up initially.

You can also reset the printer from the Remote UI.  The initialize menu is under data management.  Similar to the LCD, you can select individual components to reset or all settings.

Wireless connectivity:

The printer allows you to connect to a nearby wireless network using it's LCD.  The printer requires a 2.4Ghz broadcast that supports WPA2 encryption.  To connect, select the wireless icon (near bottom of LCD), then the SSID (network name) and enter the password for your network.

You can also contact Canon support if you need assistance performing these steps.

Start by registering your product in your MyCanon portal.

You can also call Canon after registering your device at 800-652-2666.

Thanks. My menu does not have system management settings or an initialize menu. If it does, I can't find it. I have already disconnected and reconnected  to WPA2 and the printer connects to the router successfully. I am using the latest software.

How does windows 11 tell me what the error is? I can see that it's in error in the queue, but no explanation. The Canon "app" does nothing.

This printer was registered years ago, not worth paying to have it fixed.

Thanks. The reset worked after I reconnected to the router.
