MF644cdw unknown plactic piece

I just bought a MF644cdw printer. There was plastic piece the in the documentation with a start under it, but documentation does not show where it goes.
Where does the extra plastic piece go on the MF644cdw?

The paper tray sticks out the front if you load it with legal size 8x14 paper.  That's probably the part that covers the part that sticks out.
