As you can see from the product's instruction manual, Energy Saving Mode is turned on and off from the Energy Saver (moon) looking key on the printer's control panal.

The devce also has an auto sleep feature when can be set between 1~30 min of inactivity.
There is no sensor or mehanism that wakes the printer to human presence or proximity.
