Imageclass LBP632C always trying to use multifunction tray no matter the setting ios/macOS/windows10

doesn't matter if i use phone, mac, or pc, the printer will only print from multifunction tray and i have to manually select the drawer every single time 

i have tried using system manager mode and changed the settings in there. 
i have also tried to change settings on the printer and removed all paper sizes from the multifunction tray

is there anyway to completely disable the multifunction tray? if canon deleted the multifunction tray i would kiss a lot of feet

I've always used brother printers before, and never had an issue where i always always always had to manually select the drawer for every single print job no matter what source it is, like my phone.
