GX6021 arrived leaking ink - any advice?

Hello,
I ordered a Canon GX6021 printer off Ebay but when it arrived, ink was leaking from the back and bottom of the printer. The package was completely soaked and stained with ink.
I contacted the seller and sent photos. He said he had secured everything properly and even sent pictures showing the ink lever was closed before shipping. But when I inspected the inside of the printer myself, the lever was open.
He's blaming FedEx for mishandling the package, which did arrive with some minor damage but nothing too extreme.
Unfortunately the printer was sold as non-returnable, so I'm stuck with it.
Is it common for ink to leak like this during shipping? Could the lever have come loose in transit?
The printer seems to be working fine otherwise, would it be safe to just clean it thoroughly and use it?

Appreciate any advice from anyone who's dealt with something similar.

Greetings,

To my knowledge MegaTank printers do not co.e from Canon filled with Ink.  You purchased from eBay, so the seller was unlikely to be a authorized Canon Dealer.  This is one of the risks making these types of purchases

I'd package it back up, return it, and purchase from an authorized seller.  You are also risking purchasing grey market merchandise that would not have a US warranty.

I bought it from a private seller on Ebay and since the printer was used, the ink tank was already filled.
As mentioned, unfortunately the seller excluded returns.

That's the hazard of shipping a printer with ink (or laser toner) in it. An inkjet has to be handled very gingerly to avoid ink spillage.

If your printer is working okay, clean it as much as you can and hope for the best. Hope you got a real good deal on it.
