I was having difficulty setting up my scanner and computer to scan an image to be saved in the computer. In the section of the user manual entitled "using the machine as a scanner," I followed the steps in the section "scanning from the machine" which uses the COPY/SCAN" key. The steps were followed and everything seemed to be working properly with the "processing data" light flashing on the scanner. That was followed by an "error occurred" message. After a few attempts, I gave up and decided to try the next section titled "scanning using the SCAN -> PC key." For whatever reason, this worked fine. I was probably doing something wrong initially, but all is well now.
