I've only had this printer a few short months so this shouldn't be happening.
The paper jammed today and when I go to the menu, it says to hit the arrow for instructions to clear the jam--but the arrow won't respond so I can see the next message. That's the first problem.
Okay, so I decide to see if I can clear the jam without help. I managed to open the back and found the jam, was able to carefully remove the top (or bottom?) of the page, but the other end is held fast. I'm loathe to just tear it off or try to force it through, as I suspect that'll cause even more problems. That's the second problem.

Hello,
From the images that you sent it looks like it is ok to remove the paper from the other side. If the paper is held fast and feels like it is going to rip, you can try turning the printer off and on a few times to see if the paper advances and you can remove the rest of jam. If that does not resolve the issue or to get more immediate support, I would suggest contacting support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666.
