Has anyone come up with a permanent solution to this problem? Does anyone know what is causing this to happen?

Hi bobandmyle,
To resolve this issue, please uninstall the driver of your MAXIFY MB2720 from each computer that it is installed on and then reinstall the driver. If you are not using the fax, after reinstalling the driver, please delete the Canon MB2700 fax from the Printers window, so this issue does not occur again.

Thanks for the idea. You said if you are not using the fax then delete it. However, I do occasionally use the fax, so will that continually cause the same problem?
