Canon ImageCLASS MF644Cdw - waiting to print

The printer is hooked up to the laptop via USB;  it was working in the past but now will not spool multiple print jobs and every job has the "waiting to print"  message; but takes awhile to finally print.

This just recently started to happen.

First thing I did was purchase a new usb printer cable.

2nd thing I did was uninstall the printer and update the recent software

3rd thing I did was shut everything off; then reboot and reinstall the printer.

I checked the spooling settings and they are proper.

Edited to ADD

I unplugged printer from power source for 1 minute

and restarting the Print Spool Service

it did not help

AGAIN THIS IS WIRED directly to the laptop; not wireless, lan or network.

I think I may have resolved this;  it appears that the best driver to use is the Canon Generic Plus UFR driver; I believe it is a roll back on a driver after a Windows update.  Hope this helps everyone out.

Greetings,

You are probably correct.  All business class canon printers use UFRII as there primary machine language.  This is preferred to PS, PCL and XPS which is what windows will give you by default. UFRII is proprietary and optimized for Canon printers.
