SELPHY CP1500 - Ink ripped out while printing

Hi, I just got this printer as a gift for my wedding coming up this year (Canon Selphy CP1500). I was testing out a nonsense photo, so the image itself wasn't a problem but the ink seems to have gotten stuck on the page and pulled itself out of the cartridge. It was a brand new ink cartridge and brand new paper, literally just pulled it out of the packaging. The printer is about a year old, sat in storage for a while.

Now the paper is stuck and so is the cartridge, and I'm scared to pull it out and damage the printer.
