Hi,
Unplug the power cord to the printer and press the power button 5 times. Then open the printer and gently try to move the ink carriage to the middle. If the carriage does move, take the inks out and reinstall them and then turn the printer back on.
If the ink carriage won't move, or the steps above do not clear the error, your printer will require service.
If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system.
