I cannot insert the ink cartridge into the the CP780, there is an obvious obstruction. Item is 1+ year old but brand new out of box. I have tried power reset and 5x power reset a couple times. Is there a physical solution to this issue or is it basically a piece of junk? Tried using little red lever to move obstruction but also no result. Thanks in advance for any help u can provide!

Hey there! We totally get the frustration, especially with a "new" unit. 🛑
Here’s the scoop: The SELPHY CP780 was actually released back in 2009. Even if it was brand new in the box when you bought it, sitting in storage for 10+ years often causes the internal grease to harden, which jams the gears and creates that "obstruction" you’re feeling. The "red lever" you see is likely a lock that is stuck in place because of this.
Since this is a hardware failure on a retired model, we don't want you fighting with a broken machine. You actually qualify for the Canon Upgrade Program! This gives you a solid discount on a modern printer (like the CP1500) to replace this one.
Give our team a shout at 866-443-8002 (Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm ET) and mention you have a retired CP780 that isn't working. They'll get you set up!
