I'm having trouble connecting and registering my new QX20 to my phone. I have a Samsung S9 and I'm afraid it may not be compatible as the Selphy Photo Layout app doesn't list the QX20 as an option and the App itself doesn't give me an option to update even though it is version 3.1.1.
I tried to register manually but nothing works.
Really disappointing as I searched for compatibility info before I purchased (couldn't find any), and also installed the app, which appeared ok, so assumed the printer would work ok with my phone. Unfortunately I probably can't return it because it's been opened.

Can you print from the latest version of the Canon Print app? Links to it and the correct version of the Selphy Photo Layout are at https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/selphy-qx20

I have installed both apps but unfortunately neither recognise the printer.

Ok. Let's make sure you've taken all the steps on this page - https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/Prepare-the-Printer-and-Print under "Preparing the Printer for Use"
Please share specifically what happens when you scan the QR code from your Samsung phone, and what model of Samsung phone you are using and also the version of Android OS. You'll need to be sure your phone isn't in Airplane Mode so the printer can connect directly to it via the phone's wifi.

The Canon Selphy app does not even list the QX20 as an option. I cannot update the app, it won't give me the option.
I'm using a Samsung S9 Android version 10. There is no further update I can install.
My phone does recognise the printer via Wifi. I just can't connect via the app. And without the app it seems like it's useless
I assume my phone is too old.
I'm just annoyed that I did my best to research this before purchasing and there is no information anywhere to say my phone is not compatible. And it let me install an older version of the app. How was I to know the app was outdated and wouldn't actually work with the printer.

I can certainly understand your frustration - the paperwork say "Android" is supported. I would suggest calling Canon support and giving them a chance to try to make things right. In the US I believethe phone # is 1 (800) 652-2666. Or you can try 800-385-2155 and choose option #3.
