canon 4400f scanner - lamp adjustment delays

I have switched to a new pc with windows 8.1. I needed to download a new driver set etc, all seems to be working. The problem is a delay of about 4 to 30 seconds for lamp adjustment between every scan in PDF mode. In my xp machine this only happens 1 time at the first scan.

I am having same problem after swiched my OS Windows XP to Windows 7. I need a solution for this problem.

I'm having same problem after attached it to Laptop running Windows 7.  Downloaded new driver and Cannon Toolbox.  If I unglug power and source and wait about 1-2 minutes and try again, it works normally only the first time.  Then, there is the same delay.
