How to sell gear...

Wanting to sell some things. EBay...the fees...coupled with the fees from PayPal are a bit overboard. Besides Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist how do you folks go about selling unwanted/unneeded gear? Thanks in advance for any suggestions....

The Photography On The Net website seems to have a pretty active classified ad section, with separate "For Sale" and "Wanted" sections. Items tend to be accurately described, priced within reason and the gear seems to find a new home more often than not.

I just sold 3 EF-S lens on LetGo for good $$$

No fees.  Only local sales.  I take extremely good care of my stuff so I always get top dollar and have a excellent seller rating.

CraigsList still works too.

i recommend a dealer that specializes in selling used gear, like KEH.  They may not offer as much as you might get for a selling price on eBay, but it probably balances out not having to pay a fee.

I am surprised at how tough it is to sell photo gear.  I've been selling off all of my camera equipment, video and DSLR over the last year.  All in "like new" condition as I am an editor by trade and though enjoyed building a camera rig and doing some small jobs, it never got heavy use.  But it has taken over a year to sell pro-level tripods, EVFs, audio gear, lenses, filters etc.  Biggest surprise is not being able to sell what I think is one of the best lenses I've ever used.  The Sigma Art 18-35 1.8.   This lens is beautiful yet no interest in it from Facebook, craigslist, reddit, etc.  Price has continuously come down and I have filters to go with it.  But overall I am quite surprised at the lack of buyers and how little you get for used gear no matter the condition.

I have found Craigslist to be a waste. Too many trollers and fraudsters.

UsedPhotoPro.com is a great used dealer. I have sold a lot to them. Same goes for MPB.com.

I use Offer Up.  It's slow going but I usually get what I want.

Expect low ballers.   Patience often wins the day.

The used sites like KEH, Adorama and others will normally take your gear, but you have to be willing to let it go for cheap. They are looking to make a profit as well.  Sometimes they give a higher level of trade in value if you want to buy from them vs getting cash.
