Canon R6 and Canon R8.

Hey everyone, I’ve got a question. I’m thinking about upgrading my camera down the line and switching from my Canon 6D to something more powerful and interesting. Right now I’m torn between the Canon R5 (but I’ve decided against it because of the too-large sensor and the price — judging by my needs, 50MP would be overkill), so my main choice is between the Canon R8 and the Canon R6 Mark II (maybe the R6 Mark I if the differences between the first and second models are small, but since I’m planning to shoot video in the future, the original R6 probably doesn’t make much sense to get). I plan to shoot both street and night photography, as well as landscapes. At the moment I mostly work with manual lenses, but after switching cameras I’m thinking of getting some autofocus ones. My potential budget is 1300$. What would you advise in this case?

I don't think you will find an R6 MkI from a reliable seller for $1300 (and you ruled that out).

Up your budget and see what the soon-to-be released R8 MkII offers.

@iruma77 there is little to compare between the Canon R8 and the Canon R6 Mark II, the R6 Mk II is a far superior body offering more focus points, IBIS, raw video and a 3690k dot EVF. The challenge is the the R6 Mk II would be difficult to find within your budget. It really comes down to what functionality you really need in a body which you don't mention in your post.

This is an easy choice. The R6 mkII all the way.

Why...  IBIS, better low light performance and...  the battery.  The R8 uses a smaller LP- E17 battery.  The R6 mkII uses a larger and much more powerful battery 6NH or 6P (with FW 1.5.0 or >).  

Save a little longer, it will be worth it.
