HI everyone,
My 5D Mark III LCD died after shooting in light rain. Backlight works, panel displays nothing.
Surprised it happened given the weather sealing, it really wasn't heavy rain.
Camera is otherwise fine, shutter fires normally.
Thinking about DIY LCD display replacement.
A few questions: How difficult is the swap on a 5D III specifically?
Aftermarket panels from eBay/AliExpress : is the color/brightness difference noticeable or acceptable for everyday shooting?
Any trusted sellers you'd recommend?
Thanks a lot for sharing your expériences experience with that.
Thanks

Greetings,
I've seen these types of repairs go both ways. Sometimes they work. Other times they introduce other issues. The screen will run you between $80 - $150, depending on the part, OEM versus third party. If you are ok with taking the risk, you can try. Personally, I don't recommend it. Given the cameras age, 14 yrs old, I would look at a replacement / upgrade.
