10 x 30 IS Binoculars Battery Door Latch Broken

MikeeBee

I have a 15+ year old pair of 10 x 30 IS binoculars. Maybe got them at B&H Photo. Never registered them as best I can remember. Great little binoculars. Except for the sticky problem covered in another ‘thread’ which I just finished reading and .  .  .

the latch for the battery door broke.  I’ve been trying to find a contact number for Canon to find out if it can be repaired and for how much, but can’t find one.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you get it fixed?

if Canon had spent another 5 cents on the latch it would have been about 10 times stronger and never have broken.

Not a good design.

This seems to be a common issue.  I have the 15 x 45 IS binoculars, which work great, except for a broken battery-door latch.  Just one tiny plastic bit broken, but it's essential fo proper IS function.  I tried calling the Tech Support number above, but the virtual assistant said this product is only supported online.  So please, is there any way I can get a replacement part to fix this?  Or any other advice on how to keep my battery-door closed?  Thank you.

Following. I have the same issue with my 10x30 IS binoculars. Love them to death, but can't use the IS anymore as the battery door and associated circuit completion won't happen.  Mine also went a bit "gummy" but minor issue.
