Softbox recommendations for Canon EL-10 Speedlite

Hello all,

I am looking for a softbox that will fit the EL-10. I am concerned that the flash head will be too small to attach some of these softboxes. Any experiences or recommendations? Thanks!

Mike

Each maker of soft boxes has a solution to allow them to be used with a Speedlite flash. Some are elegant, others are hardy one step from duct tape.

For larger soft boxes with the bowens / s-mount you can get an adapter to mount the Speedlite in, and the adapter has the corresponding s-mount to fit to the soft box. This is used for off-camera flash. If you want to add a soft box to the flash on-camera then there are smaller items that are usually less than 6 x 6 inches in size. These often use velcro, sometimes magnetic mounts to fit to the Speedlite. For a small soft box you need to be close to the subject to get a reasonable softening result.

I use a number of Manfrotto soft boxes myself but they do not actively sell these anymore.

I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same thing, but I have a few different smaller ones I use for macro photography. Check out Neewer’s, Godox’s and MagMod’s websites. I believe Neewer and Godox also sell adaptors to use speed lights with Bowen mounts.
