As the title says, can anyone recommend a softcase Lowepro style for the above? My searches are unsuccesful as even when I put in the specific lens, it's coming up with products that aren't big enough to take the lens. Any help gratefully recieved.

The Ruggard Alpine 600 will work if you want to pay $169

I bought the JJC DLP-8II for my 200 - 800 but 500 F4 will fit too. It's $40 bucks. It comes with shoulder, handle and belt carry options. You can carry with the hood reversed in the case as well. Check Amazon.

Hmm. Every page I look at seems to have a different length specification. (mkI or mkII) I'll go with your measurement since you have the lens. The Canon 500B is a hard case so that's not what you're looking for.

Lowepro trekker 600 awII. The thing is once you get into cases this large some manufacturers assume that you want to have the lens mounted on a body too.

I have the same JJC case as Rick (coincidence, I think - never 100% certain with memory), and think it's a great value for the 200-800mm.

Everyone thank you for your help and guidance. I ended up finding a hardly used Lowepro 600 Mk3 bag on that well known site for a lot less than new. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how much they are new! It takes the lens on it's own obviously but also comfortably with a 1DX body attached too. Naturally the weight hasn't evaporated but it's very well made and has lots of options with attaching monopod etc. I even made a little bracket to hang the cased 100-400mm lens from the side strapping. Inside I could probably squeeze my 16-35 or 24-105 in the top section above the body.
