EOS R8 all-purpose lens for photography?

lloyd64

I am looking for advice on lens. I am new to photography and would like a lens that helps me capture everything and I am able to carry the camera around everywhere to get into a habit of clicking. This way I can find what I enjoy most whether its cityscape, street or portraits and then I can commit to a better niche lens.

Any suggestions?

Budget is entry level or upto 400-500 dollars

Just curious, which Pentax m42 screw mount cameras do you still have?

While I still have and use Zenit and Miranda cameras with the M42 screw mount, the only Pentax I still use with that mount is the Spotmatic.  My 6 other Pentax SLRs are all with the K-mount.

Oh my goodness you are really causing me to dust off  brain cells that haven't been in use for decades. I am going limit this answer to my favorite screw mount camera since I had, still have several. It is the Ricoh TLS 401. The K-mount came later and I had a Pentax K-1000? (if I remember correctly). I no longer have it.

Here is one cabinet that has a bunch of old gear in it. There are more relics in the darkroom/storage room. Some or most of this hasn't been touched in years or decades.

Make sure to give your heirs/survivors info about what to do with them when you are gone. My dad had to go through the difficult process of liquidating his home machine shop. Luckily he was still around to liquidate it as he saw fit.

Ernie,

My office looks just like the image in your post, except the display case at the bottom is a dry cabinet.  You're missing a tripod on top of the case with all those boxes.  🤣  Mine sort of looks like a Saturn V rocket .....

@lloyd64, we hope you have picked up your RF 24-105

Very nice collection, Ernie!

The attached photo here has roughy three quarters of my film gear (since this photo was taken, I have been gifted five more cameras from friends, a few lenses, and bought a new Pentax 17 half frame).  Only one of the Kodak folding cameras is no longer used due to it being too fragile.  Everything else still gets a good workout.
