It sounds like you've already tried a couple of things, but it might also help to try charging the battery again. This time, try a different outlet in a different room and leave the battery on for at least two hours.
During that time, I suggest that you inspect the camera to see if any button seems stuck or out of place. In that case, try to nudge them back into position.
