EOS Webcam Utility Problems with Sequoia: Camera works in EWU but not in other apps

webcam_user_21

I recently installed MacOS Sequoia (15.1) and installed EOS Webcam Utility Pro for Sequoia (2.2.24).

My camera works within the Webcam Utility app--but that's the only place it works. In Zoom, Meets etc EOS Webcam does not appear within the list of available cameras.

When I open "System Settings"-->"General"-->"Login Items & Extensions", in the "Allow in Background" section, "Canon USA Inc" has two items. The slider is blue, IE on. In the list of Extensions, I don't see anything related to cameras, Canon or EOS.

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and rebooting multiple times without luck.

Any help would be much appreciated. I really depend on my Canon as webcam.

Greetings webcam_user_21,

At this time, the EOS Webcam Utility software application is not compatible with macOS 15 Sequioa. Our Canon software engineers are still reviewing the option of updating our software to be compatible with Apple's new operating system. You may attempt to use the available version for macOS 14 but we cannot guarantee the application will function with your video conferencing / streaming applications. You may occasionally visit the product support page for your Canon camera and an update will become available once it is posted by our software engineers.

Thanks for the reply. But my problem isn't with the Webcam software app--this works fine--it's that nothing else works. Meets doesn't work. Zoom doesn't work. The ONLY app that works is EWU.

The problem is 2.2 doesn't support Sequoia according to release notes.

EWU works because it talks to the camera directly.

For the other apps to pick up the camera then the system extension needs to be installed. This isn't being done correctly by the installer.

EOS Webcam 2.3 does now support Sequoia : https://www.usa.canon.com/cameras/eos-webcam-utility

However, I do have this exact issues

When I run the installer I never get the pop up it suggests nor do I see any 'allow' button in System settings to allow the extension installation. I ran the same installer on a Sonoma machine and I see both the alert and the 'allow' button in System settings. Sadly I can't reinstall my OS as this is a corporate machine and I was forced to upgrade it from Sonoma where I had a working EOS 2.0 driver installed using the legacy model. I think now if i'd upgraded to 2.3 _BEFORE_ Sequoia then things would have been ok.

Can I ask that Cannon PLEASE double check the 2.3 installer on Sequoia 15.1.

Happy to provide any and all logs if that will get things working again.

“ Can I ask that Cannon PLEASE double check the 2.3 installer on Sequoia 15.1. “

Installers are typically part of the platform SDK. That means the installers are most likely written by Apple.

Yes true but it is running some 'Extension Installer' that works on Sonoma but not Sequoia. Perhaps the package has a problem.
