I'm getting the video feed just fine, but the battery is being used and depleted.
I'm using USB3 to USBC.
Thank you.

No, you can't charge via USB and use data at the same time. You'd need to use the battery replacement AC adapter kit (AC Adapter Kit ACK-DC110), if your stream session lasts longer than the battery does.

So it doesnt charge when you use USB-A to USB-C, but when I use a USB-C to USB-C cable it charges with a powerblock that supports Power Delivery (PD).
So if my computer has a PD USB-C port on it, I should be able to charge the camera straight from my USB-C port using a USB-C to USB-C cable. But then the question is, does the EOS Beta utility work?
I guess I'll order a thunderbolt cable and sort it out soon. If anyone that already has a thunderbolt (usb-c to usb-c style) cable to try this, that would be awesome.

Does the AC power adapter kit you mentioned really work even with the G7X lll? The battery lid doesn't have a hole to let the cable out, so I don't think I can use that kit. (G7X I and II have the hole). If I'm wrong, please let me know. Do you have any other ideas how to keep the power without worring about battery life? Thanks!

Hi Canon team,
Does this method work?
Using this USB-C merging adapter.
https://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F7U081/
Powering the camera from an external PD power source through this adapter, and we simultaneously use the Webcam Utility.
If G7X lll only accepts power from the outside when it is turned off, this method will not be established. On the other hand, if the power from the PC is simply underpowered, this approach might work.
What do you think?

I dont believe my ASROCK x470 SLI has PD on the USB-C, or it just doesnt provide enough wattage to power my camera. There are some motherboards that have 35w and even some with 100w PD. Unfortuntely I cant easily change that so I cant easily test that.
The one thing I might be able to do is get a PCIe card like
I may have to get rid of this G7X and find a more suitable camera like a sonly alpha 6300 or higher. I know those work as capture devices via USB.

I just want to provide an update. I left my G7X on all night hooked up with USB-C to USB-C to the back USB-C port on my motherboard. I left OBS open all night, and this morning I still have 100% battery power on my camera. So this appears to work without having to have supplemental power to the camera.
The only problem with this beta webcam functionality, is that the output resolution is just 1024x576, so it really doesnt look that great. My Logitech c922 at least pumps out 1920x1080.... so I probably need to get a capture card and take the clean HDMI output... I was hoping to not have to buy that.

Let me update you on this.
1. connect a PD compatible AC adapter to your Macbook.
2. connect the Macbook to the G7X lll.
In this way, you can feed the external power to the G7X lll continuously.
The point is that the original Apple AC adapter (incompatible for PD) for the Macbook will charge the battery when the G7X lll is off, but not when you are using it as a webcam.
