what is zoom for on rebel T3i?
What type of printer would be best for printing pictures so they look professional?

The "zoom" on the kit lens (18-55mm) is approximately 3x, but the great part about a DSLR is that you can change lenses if you need more than that.

In video mode it allows you to zoom in on your subject for clearer video.
For picture mode it only allows you to zoom in to get a clearer view of your subject. One you press the shutter release the view will go back to normal for the shot.
