I was given a Canon Rebel T6 that was purchased in 2016, and never opened till 2025. I left the battery charging for almost an entire day. It is still yellow. The camera won't turn on. Have the charger and battery already degraded? Is the whole camera degraded? Should I try to buy another battery?

Another battery would be your best bet, though a few days of charging the battery, leaving it off for a day and then charging it again might help.

kristenw8, if you have a camera retailer close by you may want to grab the camera with a lens attached and see if they have a battery in one of their display models you can try out. If the camera works you are in the right place to pick up a new battery.
