video time out?

ok, i've read the section in the manual and watched several vidoes on how to properly set up my Rebel T5i camera for taking vidoes, and each time i try to take vid with it, it shows this weird bar that fills up and then is says it's autmatically shut off the video.  i emptied my memory card and reformated it and it's still a problem.  whats going on??  please help!

What kind of memory card? It may be too slow.

Did the bar look like this:
