"Sticky" Main Dial on Canon 6D

RizzoTRat

Recently the main dial on my Canon 6D seems tighter & does not move as easily. Considering the age of the camera, I suspect that it could use a thorough disassembly & cleaning. I prefer to have this done professionally by either Canon or their authorized service centers. Who do I contact at Canon to submit a service request? Thank you so much.

Greetings,

To receive service from Canon, start by registering your lens in your MyCanon Acct

https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/signin

From there you can initiate an Inspection/Repair request.

Looks like I spoke too soon.  It seems Canon has ended support for the 6D as of 10/2025.

You can contact support, but it might be too late.  If so, you'll have to go for repair from a Camera Shop.

That's going to be one of the sad facets of digital cameras versus film cameras i.e. repairs to keep them going for decades.

I reflect on my first toe dipped into the DSLR world: a Canon XSi. It became horribly outdated, yet the Elan 7e that I sold as I moved squarely into digital, would to this day be a good camera and one that is potentially easier to fix.

Alas, I should have never sold the 7e

Looks like I have a lead. Canon no longer services my model of Canon camera. And for that matter, neither does B&H. However, Precision Camera in Austin, TX does. Supposedly they also do repair work for Canon. But I cannot verify that.

Greetings ,

That's a great lead.  I wasn't able to verify if they are unauthorized repair facility either.  Quick check shows mixed reviews, but the majority were positive.  You can also check with Canon in regards to their accreditation.
