A Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 will work with a Canon T3.

Any Canon EF lens or EF-s lens will work with your T3.

Canon 5d mk 4, Canon 6D, EF 70-200mm L f/2.8 IS mk2; EF 16-35 f/2.8 L mk. III; Sigma 35mm f/1.4 "Art" EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro; EF 85mm f/1.8; EF 1.4x extender mk. 3; EF 24-105 f/4 L; EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS; 3x Phottix Mitros+ speedlites

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

This is impossible to answer if we do not know what lens you have.  You can see you violated the forum guideleines with something?  So, more to the point, is it a EF or EF-S lens made by Canon?

Just because it is "my 50 mm 1.8 number" means little.

As I read it, they rapped his knuckles for including the serial number. It's probably the same old 50mm f/1.8 that's often mentioned in this forum.

And it could be a FD.  Or it could be a third world lens.  Who knows?

Perhaps I don't think like a criminal very well, but what mischief, exactly, could a bad guy get up to with nothing but the knowledge of a lens serial number?
