In my viewfinder, I have a number 9 in brackets next to my ISO reading.

It looks like this in the manual:
I have a T8i, and I don't know if this is unique to this model, or if it's something that all Rebels show.
Can anyone tell me what this is?

It is the number of shots available in the buffer. While you may have many more if shooting JPEG's, it always maxes out at 9.

If you want to see it change, switch to shooting RAWs and continuous shooting, and mash the shutter down.
