Is this for real?
Canon has 2 cables listed as accessories for the EOS M50, and many more.
Is this not a typo, and the USB cables are wired differently for charging, and transfer.
1. USB Cable IFC-500U - Transfer Cable
https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/usb-cable-ifc-500u
2. Interface Cable IFC-600PCU - Charging Cable
https://shop.usa.canon.com/shop/en/catalog/interface-cable-ifc-600PCU
I tried about 5 or 6 USB 2.0 cables I already had, and they transfered files at USB 2.0 speeds.
I'm needing an onboard power solution, and wondering if this "IFC-600PCU" can be used to continuously supply power or keep the battery charged on the M50 while hooked into the HDMI port?
Thanks for any replies.

The cables have different lengths.

I did not see the lengths in the specs, but they state one is for transfers, and the other is for charging.
I can verify that a transfer cable will NOT charge the battery.
So I was just trying to get a verification that this is correct.

I haven't got an M50 but everything I have read says that it doesn't have a USB charging facility.

That's why I'm so confused about this product listing on the Canon M50 webpage.

I do not believe the "charging cable" is what it seems. I think it is just one piece of a larger kit. I cannot find the one for the smaller camera bodies, but here is the link to the PD=E1.

The PD-E1 USB Charging kit comes with a AC power adapter, which supplies power to the camera through the cable.

Okay. They also make a dummy battery AC power kit. But I will investigate this over the next few days, and this weekend, I will see if the USB cable actually charges. because I have not had to charge the battery yet. I have been leaving the camera USB plugged into my PC when I'm using the computer., and the battery has been staying full. But I need to drain the battery more to be sure.

I hope this has worked out; I am also searching for an answer to the same question, as my current point-and-shoot (Samsung WB35F) charges when connected to a computer or power strip with a simple USB cable. I'm hoping the ELPH 330 HS has the same function.

Sorry that I am just now seeing this. I ended up just getting a Power Adapter for the battery compartment. I gave up trying to figure out the USB.
This is the one I have now., https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VNSD7LW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
