Why is this image so soft, it is unusable. The light is perfect and the sight too is good. The Focus Point is exactly on the eye but the image is blurred. What am I doing wrong.

As per this from Canon website
Canon : Supplemental Information : Lenses Supporting Maximum High-Speed Continuous Shooting Speed https://share.google/ABbcBGlBAJjDTId9Z
One can see that EF lenses can also support 40 fps of R1. The screenshot you shared says it is limited to 12 fps. Where is that from?

As I indicated in my previous post, the table I posted came from the User Manual for the original R5. There is a page number at the bottom. This table only applies to the default shutter mode, electronic first curtain.
The Supplemenatary Information Guide appears to be incomplete. It only has one table listed. When it should be three. One for each shutter mode. The one table posted in the Supplementary Guide seems equivalent to the first column of this table, which is found in the same section.
I can see how the information in the single table could be applied to all three columns. But, I feel that is misleading because all three columns list shutter fps specs for each shutter mode, for each camera.
I have said this before But this time I mean it. Good Luck resolving your issue.

We are not talking about what the Camera is capable to do. Yes, camera has different speeds for the different shutter configurations.
The discussion was about what the EF lens is capable of doing when used with the mirrorless cameras.
So as per Canon R1 documentation using EF lenses does not mean we have to keep the FPS low. A combo of R1 and EF 500L F4 IS ii is perfectly capable of doing 40 fps.To be safe I have already kept 30 fps as the max.
I understand that I do not have to reduce the FPS to resolve the issue I see.
Nothing personal, but I have noticed that your analysis and recommendations have not been correct.
