Rebel T2i Limited response when shutter button pressed

My T2i shutter button is not functioning. I wait for a response, it focuses, beeps, but doesn’t take a photo. If I turn it off and on it might or might not work. I’ve checked all settings, tried different lenses but nothing happens. I have 3 batteries I alternate between because I have a suspicion this is the issue because it got worse over time. Any ideas?

Does it work in manual focus mode?

Is it waiting for the flash?

No. The flash pops up but nothing happens. This issue has been occurring for awhile. If I keep trying by either keeping the shutter button held down or releasing and trying again it will sometimes take a picture. The number of times I need to do this before success is increased. The flash flashes and the camera beeps but no photo happens.

It doesn’t work in manual focus. The flash pops up. I just did a test on both auto focus and manual focus for each setting. Those requiring the flash has the flash pop up but no response. Then all of a sudden while I was on A-Dep a photo was taken and the flash went off. I immediately went to M, and then to Av and Tv taking a photo each time. Then it stopped working again.

Try resetting the camera to its defaults.

Tried this. No luck.

Per review of the description of the issue you are having as well as the troubleshooting replies that users have provided, it appears that there may be an issue with the EOS Rebel T2i camera. The next step would have been to suggest on sending the unit to our facility for repair. Unfortunately, this camera model has reached the end of its service life.
