R6iii Feature Requests From Someone Who Just Switched From Sony

Suggestions on better user functionality that are software related and should be an easy fix:

1. Movie Cropping custom button assignment.

When shooting events I like to toggle between full frame/aps-c mode quickly so I don't have to re-frame video in my edit. I'd rather get the composition right in camera for quicker turnaround times.

Being able to assign movie cropping to custom button in movie mode is needed (you can do this in photo already, so it needs to be implemented in movie mode)

2. Shutter angle. Lumix includes this on all cameras, Sony includes it on FX series (oversight on their part). It should be included in ALL bodies from now.

Every video shooter will use it. There's no reason not to have it in cameras in 2026 (other than being stingy and anti-customer).

3. Subject To Detect (AF setting)

I would like to quickly change from human to animal af setting quickly. Right now it requires multiple buttons and a dial to do. Not necessary and unnecessarily cumbersome.

In situations that require shooting different subject types, a custom button would make this lightning fast.

(Really any feature change should be able to be assigned to a custom button)

4. Anamorphic support.

There are several low budget anamorphic lens options these days, so every camera body should just have this.

Thanks to anyone who will listen lol

Anamorphic support would be delightful. I love working with my anamorphic lens, but there's always the stretching in post that has to happen first.
