I currently use a T5 and am looking to upgrade to an m50 in the near future. I have a few ef type lenses and have been trying to figure out if it would be best to buy a speed booster or just an adapter. Essentially my question boils down to how my 50mm prime would be affected by using a booster/adapter, and if it is possible to maintain the 50mm focal length without having to get an ef-m 50mm.

No adapters, boosters or tele cons, never ever.
If you are wanting to "upgrade ?
" to the M50 buy the gear designed for the M50.

Ernie, what's your take on the survivability of the M series in Canon's product line? If I were considering buying a mirrorless camera, I think I'd want it to be fully compatible with the R series, in case I ever wanted to upgrade.

I bet it is already at life's end. I never recommended anyone buy a "M" series.
