I recently bought the r50v . This morning it started acting up. It would take longer to boot up. But now it won't stay on at all. Original battery, fully charged. I removed the battery and SD card, pressed on the shutter button for 30 seconds to hard reset it. Still no luck! Is there Anyone with the same problem or know a solution?

try powering the camera with a USB C powerbank with power delivery or a USB C charger for laptop (40w or more). since you don't have an extra battery to test, hopefully this will narrow down if the body has an issue.

I have the same issue. I charged the battery. Installed it, tried to make a video and camera froze. I couldn't turn it off. I had to remove battery for it to turn off. Hasn't work since. 1-2-26

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. I am really sorry to hear your new EOS R50 is acting up like this— especially freezing mid-video. That is incredibly frustrating.
Since you have already tried the "hard reset" (removing power and draining the capacitors), we need to determine if an accessory is causing a short circuit or if the camera internal power system has failed.
Please try this "Isolation" method:
Strip it down: Remove the SD card, any external mics, and the lens. (Put the body cap on to protect the sensor).
Check the Battery: Inspect the electrical contacts inside the battery compartment and on the battery itself. Ensure there is no debris or dirt.
Power Cycle: Insert the fully charged battery into the camera (with no lens or card attached) and try to turn it on.
The Verdict:
If it turns on: The issue is likely the lens (communication error) or a corrupt SD card preventing the boot sequence.
If it stays off: Since you mentioned you recently bought this, it is highly likely a hardware failure on the main board. The good news is that you are covered by the Canon 1-Year Limited Warranty.
I recommend sending it to our Factory Service Center so our techs can fix it or replace it. You can initiate a request and print a shipping label by logging into your MyCanon account here: https://canon.us/account

You can double-check the battery contacts to see if there is any debris or dirt down inside the battery compartment, too (the image is for reference only):

The only thing I think would have cause the SD card to currupt is when I formatted through Camera. Won't be doing that again. Thanks for the help. I was getting ready to start packing it. It worked again, I'll keep an eye on it and see if it comes back again. I won't be using that SD card on this Camera for sure.

Thought I had it. New SD card and installed the Kit lens. didn't boot up. Going to send it in for repair.

Got camera back yesterday. Charged my Battery. Took 2 pictures and same thing. Screen froze, tried to turn it off and it wouldn't. Going to purchase another Battery and see if that's the issue. Wish me luck. I'll have to send it off again.
