R5: RF14-35mm f/4 L IS US, RF24-105 Locking manual focus to keep in place if you knock focusing ring

I shoot with a Canon R5 mirrorless camera with either a Canon RF14-35mm f/4 L IS USM lens or RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM lens. Is there a way to lock manual focus? For “shooting from the hip” street photography, I set my exposure settings and then I manually focus based on hyperfocal distance. But when I’m walking around holding my camera by my hip, it’s easy to accidentally knock the lens’ focusing ring. So is there a way to lock my desired focus so that it doesn’t change if I accidentally touch the focusing ring?

If the manual focus ring is active then there is no way to lock it. The only way to deactivate the focus ring is select AF instead of MF.

One tip you can try. Set the camera to not retract the lens on power off in the C.Fn menus page 4. Then set the power settings to auto switch off after 30s. Since the lens is not retracted it will be in the same place when you wake the camera by pressing the shutter button, but while it is powered off the turning the focus ring has no effect.
