Live view brightness doesn't change when shutter speed is changed

The brightness of my 5D4's LCD screen does not change when I change the shutter speed, even though I am shooting manual exposure. I have to turn the camera off and on again to get it to work properly. Then, it malfunctions again. Any suggestions?

If you have ISO set to AUTO, then you might not see any changes.  Try enabling Exposure Simulation.

Do you know where your Depth-Of-Field preview button is located?

Thanks. I am not using Auto ISO. I do know where my depth of field button is. It's not that the screen never changes in response to my changing the shutter speed. It's just that many times it doesn't. When I cut off the camera and cut it back on, it works for a while.
