Hello everyone,

I just uploaded the new eosr-62v1.6.0 firmware on my R6 Mark II.  I was a bit concerned with the idea of having to enter a password every time I turn on my camera or every time it powers off.  However, after chatting with Rick (shadowsport), and listening to his explanation, I decided to update my R6 Mark II to the 1.6.0 firmware and disable the password option.  Here is the breakdown:

  • Download the new firmware to your SD card.
  • Install the firmware on to the R6 Mark II.  Do not touch any button on your camera while the firmware is being uploaded.
  • Once the firmware is uploaded, a window will pop up asking you to enter a 6-digit password.  After you have entered the password hit the [OK] button then a window will pop up asking you to reconfirm the password you entered.  The camera will then turn on as usual.
  • If you want to disable the password option: Turn your camera off wait a few seconds and turn it back on. The camera will turn on with a window asking for your password and below it a check box stating [  ] "Do not ask again".  Enter your password then check the box [x] Do not ask again, then hit OK.   Your camera will turn on as usual.  Turn the camera Off wait a second then turn your camera back On and this time it will not ask you for a password.
  • How to manage your password: Go to your Wrench Tool Menu drop down 5 and there you will see "Manage Password".  Click on it and you'll see a menu with the following options:
  • Pword. request    OFF
  • Change Password
  • Clear entered information

Make the changes as you like. The new eosr-62v1.6.0 firmware for the R6 Mark II is very straightforward to download and it gives you the options to use or not to use a password.  I don't want to have to enter a password every time that I turn on the camera or when it powers off, not to mention missing a good shot because of it.  I hope this helps those that have questions about the new password option, Also, this firmware "Adds functions", "Improves AF Tracking", "Adds new ability", and "Fixes Issues".  I hope this helps answer questions like I had.

Cheers,
Joe
