Just bought Canon R100- questions about using bluetooth to transfer images to smartphone

Hi

Just bought an R100 after using a Rebel XT for years and have never had the image transfer feature before.  I have an iPhone 13 and I have installed the Canon Camera Connect app.  It is now paired with my camera.   It seems to work but it always defaults to a WIFI connection.   I am just wondering if Bluetooth is better and faster.   I would appreciate links that may explain the operation and how best to use it.   Thank you.

Enjoy the R100; I enjoy mine very much. I've never transferred images wirelessly because I've never had the need or the desire to do so, but that's just "me".

It is my understanding from an explanation long long ago that bluetooth is the connection and wifi is the transfer. There are others here who I am sure are better versed in this and I predict they will weigh in soon.

I typically import pictures to my Mac which is the platform from where I back them up and then use AirDrop to send images to my phone, but I purposefully do not keep a lot of images on my phone.

Thank you, Lee.   That seems to match what I am seeing.   The camera/phone connect with Bluetooth (BT) and then transfer with WIFI.   Having never had the option, I was exploring it.   I had read, with all the marketing hype, that BT connections were more reliable on the newer mirrorless cameras vs the WIFI method on the standard DSLRs.   It was one of the determining factors in my choosing the R100 over the T7.   In a pinch it is convenient to transfer a few images to my phone so I can share right away but if I am saving a card's worth, the computer seems the best way.   I have a similar setup with a Mac.   It looks like you have a wide range of cameras so I appreciate your response.

Thanks

Mark

I have an R100 and an R8. The R100 is dead reliable and wonderful. The R8 is cantankerous as heck. I'd love an R200 i.e. an R100 with a full frame sensor and no frills.
