AF is only as fast as the lens mounted to the camera. Most of the time the center AF point is the most sensitive AF point available. The EOS 1000F was released in the early 90s and the EOS 3000N was released in 2002 and has more AF points available. It is also a more powerful camera and can use the modern E-TTL flash system which is compatible with all EX series speedlites. The older EOS 1000F can only utilize A-TTL or older off the film TTL flash which is only compatible with older EZ series speedlites with a flash sync of 1/90th sec and HSS (High Speed Sync) is NOT available it predates its creation. But the EOS 3000N supports HSS.
