Nat2,

Use a photo that you think is overexposed. Using the info button on your camera, look at the settings your camera chose.

Now, flip your camera over to Manual Mode and take the same picture under the same kind of conditions, but this time, manually dial in a faster shutter speed, or a smaller aperture.

(I suspect your shutter speed might have been too slow for a moving subjects in the original, but that's just a guess on my part.)

First do a full reset of your R5 Mk II. Now try again.

Hi I tried this but it made no diffference. Many thanks.

Thank you. Tried this too 😞

What exposure mode are you in?

You are not giving us much to go on. Can you share some examples?

Does the over-exposure go away when you use some other focus method?

I agree.  Help someone to help you.

To paraphrase, saying that it doesn’t work, doesn’t work.  Posting a sample photo, two, that includes EXIF metadata would go a long way towards resolving your issue.

You can post an uncropped image here. Or post a link to a public file sharing service like DropBox. A link to a RAW file would be ideal.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, what lens and adapter if any?

Nat2,

I think, (but can't be sure), that when you are in full Auto Mode, the camera uses the full frame to focus and meter. The animal you are tracking is in a dark part of the frame, but your scene contains a lot of bright areas. The camera is trying to average everything out and responds by writing out all those bright areas.

Try taking it out of full Auto. Use one of the other Modes like Av or Tv and use single point or one of the smaller zone areas to autofocus.
