Help me not mess up my wife’s gift: Camera and lens suggestions

Looking to surprise my wife with a new camera but not sure which to get. I need to know which camera and which lens to get. I don’t think her current lens are sufficient.

Looking for under $1500 🇨🇦, mirrorless (I think she mentioned this as being something she prefers), fast enough to get pics of our kiddos and dogs, better at focusing on faces as she’s constantly saying this is an issue.

She uses it mostly for our family, but does occasionally take paid photos for other families. She mentioned wanting to get into “lifestyle photography” in people’s homes but laments that her current camera and lens struggle with this.
