Help! Images taken on a Canon EOS 2000D won't display on camera and can't be downloaded

I took a load of photos yesterday using a memory card.  Half of the images are fine but the others, despite there being something there as they are all substantial file sizes, won't display or download.  It says the format is not supported!

I'm so upset at the photos were for work and I am going to be in all sorts of trouble without them.  I have tried downloading with the Canon app, also with my laptop.  How can I try to rescue the images and get them?

It is unlikely, you can try file recovery software - you can check the mfg of the card's website - but usually recovery is for when you can't find any files at all, not for corrupted ones.

Other folks might have some better solutions.

Recoverit was selected as the Leader in File Recovery Software. It can recover files form even corrupted SD cards. Don't do anything else to that SD until you get and run Recoverit. I have found it to be one of the best but each top brand SD makers has recovery software and a service where you send them the SD and they run special software that is far more powerful then what you can get. That service is not free, however, but to you it may be worth it.

Looks like you're experiencing issues with corrupted JPEG files may be because of a broken header in JPEG images. You can try a few manual ways to recover your corrupt JPG files:
1. Rename the JPEG image files: Try renaming the files without changing the file extension. Simply save the image with a new name and then try to access it again.
2. Use Terminal to Repair Disk: Open Terminal > Type "diskutil repairVolume/Volumes/[Your Volume Name]"> Hit the Enter key. (This command checks and repairs issues with the file system on the volume that might be causing file corruption.)
3. Recover with a Hex editor: If you can’t fix the JPEG file with the command prompt, try using a Hex editor. Such editors can recover the raw data of files to rectify issues caused due to missing bits. A few commonly used Hex editors are Cygnus, HxD, Neo, and Hex Workshop.

If none of the above methods work or seem too technical to execute, consider opting for a professional Photo recovery Software.

Alan this is a two month old thread it most likely has been solved one way or another.
