Has anyone had success connecting a smartphone up to their 6D using ad hoc mode?

I've been able to do this successfully in infrastructure mode on several different networks, but whenever I connect to the camera as a hotspot, I always get disconnected almost as soon as I get connected.

Any insight is appreciated.
